HISTORY
The Bongo Brothers are a children's musical theatre comedy act.
Formed in 2005 by actor Dave Houston and musician Bryson Mulholland, they began by spending three months as artist-in-residence in Mexico City, Mexico, where they wrote, rehearsed and recorded their debut album, Cactus. This was followed up with a three-month Australian tour of their debut stage production, Quest for the Ultimate Rhythm.
In 2008, they evolved into a trio, with the addition of bass playing, pig farming cartoonist Ado Osborne AKA Drongo. With Osborne on board, they wrote and produced their second stage production, Surf Safari. That same year The Bongos' signed with Australian-based schools booking agent School Performance Tours (SPT), performing up to 200 primary school shows a year.
In 2009 they performed at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
In 2010, they released their widely acclaimed sophomore album, Surf Safari.
In 2018, they released their third album, Quest for the Ultimate Rhythm, a tribute to the original production, celebrating the songs that have now been performed to over 250,000 children.
In 2023, The Bongo Brothers evolved sonically, collaborating with celebrated international electronic producers Morganics and Deep Fried Dub, releasing their fourth studio album,
